To further strengthen the faith of Church officers from the Ecclesiastical District of Tacloban City, Leyte and, consequently, that of the brethren under their care, the district leadership called special gatherings for them on October 25, 2026.

A total of 164 newly appointed officers were inducted in the two gatherings held simultaneously at the houses of worship of the Tacloban City and Abuyog local congregations.

Brother Raul Ramirez Sr., district supervising minister, led the gathering at the former, wherein the officers from the local congregations under the areas of Tacloban City, Palo, and Alang-Alang gathered.

Brother Remel Flores, district edification overseer, officiated at the gathering at the latter, attended by congregation officers from Dulag and Abuyog areas.

The presiding ministers both delivered a lesson exhorting the attendees to faithfully uphold their divine duties despite challenges in life, such as hardship and persecution, so that they could effectively help the Church Administration in guiding the brethren toward attaining salvation on Judgment Day.

They reminded the officers that in performing their duties wholeheartedly and devotedly, they would never be at the losing end as the Lord God has promised them blessings in this life and, most importantly, in the life to come.

Following the sermon, the newly appointed officers took their oaths of office, administered by Brother Felomar Gutierrez, district Church officers’ overseer, in Tacloban City, and Brother George Maliwat, district Light Of Salvation overseer, in Abuyog.

“I am very happy that the Lord God has entrusted me with this duty,” Camilo Canonce Jr., who was sworn in as head deacon of the San Miguel Congregation, enthused. “I fully know that this is not an easy task, but just as we have been taught, with the help of the Lord God, I will be able to carry out my duty to the best of my ability. I promise to fulfill it wholeheartedly, with greater concern for those under my care.”

William Baje, who took his oath as a deacon with the Sta. Elena Congregation, said he was “grateful to the Church Administration for continually inspiring us in the performance of our duties through the words of the Lord God.” He added, “In these challenging times, when the faith of the brethren is at risk, I promise to devote myself completely to fulfilling my duties … to strengthen their faith.”

On behalf of the district, Brother Ramirez stated, “I thank the Lord God for the success of this activity. May this gathering bring glory and honor to Him, and may all Church officers be strengthened in their resolve to oversee the spiritual welfare of the brethren under their care.” — With reports from Joey Malawit Jr.
