The Ecclesiastical District of Caloocan North, Philippines, conducted a blood donation activity on January 20, 2024 in line with “INC Giving” project that was relaunched throughout the Church some two weeks earlier.
The said socio-civic project of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) has as its basis, among others, biblical precept, “Whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it,” written in Proverbs 3:27 (Good News Bible).
“It is always good to help in all the works of the Church, this event included, which emphasized well the theme of the INC Giving,” said Brother Ariel B. Barzaga, the district supervising minister.
He also supervised the blood donation drive which took place at the compound of the Camarin Local Congregation‘s house of worship. Qualified ministers and ministerial workers led Church officers and brethren in volunteering as blood donors, while others cooperated in some other capacities for the activity’s success.
“This event was made possible above all, with the ever-present help of the Almighty Father,” said Jaymee Lee Dignos, a nurse by profession and a member of the district’s Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS). “We’re also thankful to the Church’s Social Services Office (SSO) coordination with us. This event is not only an avenue for sustaining lives but also for obeying God’s command of generosity to those in need,” she added on behalf of the CMDPS.
The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, located in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, Philippines, which was also the recipient of the collected blood for the benefit of its patients. Donors went through blood typing, hemoglobin checking, blood pressure, among others. In total, 114 bags of blood were collected.
“It felt good as I’m well aware that my blood will eventually be replenished. But more than this, I truly believe that this extending care to those who need it pleases God,” said Elvie Uy from the Camarin Congregation. – With assistance from Bryan Langit of INC News Section
